ProgressNow New Mexico is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization that serves to unite, empower, and enhance the progressive voice in the Land of Enchantment. We function as a progressive communications hub and our mission centers on the promotion of progressive policy ideas, correcting conservative misinformation, and holding elected officials and corporations accountable.
ProgressNow New Mexico is a proud member of the national ProgressNow network of organizations.
What does it mean to be a progressive?
"Progressivism, of course, stands for progress. The progressive spirit envisions a day when every citizen is equal under the law and each person has an equal voice in the process of democracy. Progressives stand for the American ideals of inclusion, equality, and freedom for all. Thus, progressives champion marriage equality, the protection of public education and public employees, and an end to the influx of corporate cash flowing into our political processes. Progressives understand how important facts and the free-flow of information are; thus they stand for Internet freedom and the advancement of STEM education, while conservatives largely align themselves with corporate interests and the anti-scientific misinformation that is responsible for - among other things - the menacing growth of man-made climate change." - Alex Curtas, ProgressNowNM. What We Do
ProgressNow New Mexico provides a unified voice for progressive groups on the issues that matter most to New Mexicans. We accomplish this task by providing issue and opinion research, message development, and one-on-one technical assistance to progressive groups.
Our organization works directly with the public and the media on progressive activities and issues. ProgressNow New Mexico's tactics are dynamic and creative, so they get attention.
We know that not everyone has access to expensive tools for online organizing and communications and that buying television and radio time is also costly. But together, through ProgressNow New Mexico, our state's progressive community can use these tools and techniques to amplify their own messages and join in the growing chorus of the larger progressive movement.
